Bowel Cancer Guernsey was established in 2001 as the Guernsey Bowel Cancer Awareness Charity and is registered with the Guernsey Association of Charities. In 2013 the charity rebranded as Bowel Cancer Guernsey and in January 2015 became a company Limited by Guarantee (LBG).
The committee organises a series of events each year to raise funds for the Charity and to raise awareness of bowel cancer. Money raised is spent locally on specialised equipment and educational initiatives – see our page on ‘The work we do in Guernsey’ for more details.
The directors meet most months for business meetings plus there are additional smaller sub-committee
meetings to plan events.

To date, with the generous support of the local community we have raised in the region of £300,000.
This has been achieved through a variety of fund raising events organised by the Charity, including a Skipathon, ’Loud Tie’ days, annual lunches in January, quiz nights and walking treasure hunts.
The Charity is also very grateful to numerous individuals and companies who have donated funds after organising or undertaking their own fundraising events.
Some of our achievements so far include:
Other activities in the Bailiwick include:
We continue to liaise with the Committee for Health and Social Care to provide equipment and training to aid the bowel cancer screening programme as well as diagnosis and treatment of bowel cancer whenever required.
“I understand that bowel cancer is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early. Accordingly raising awareness locally of the importance of identifying symptoms, taking appropriate advice and overcoming any embarrassment there might be about discussing such matters are all reasons why I support Bowel Cancer Guernsey.”
